  Abstract

The hands-on job training called OJT (On the Job Training) has been carried out as education for new employees to master a job completely. However, the tutor must spend much time for instruction of the trainee. To educate trainee with a low cost, we propose a method to instruct the trainee automatically in a virtual space. The method changes a way of instruction according to the work state of the trainee. If a trainee does not understand a work well, the method shows the trainee the correct process of the work to promote his understanding. It operates a copied-object other than the one the trainee operates in the work. We call this an intervention object. We have implemented the work of tire exchange of a car in a service station in a virtual space. We have compared the knowledge of the process to change tires of each examinee before and after using this system. As the result, it has given beginners detailed instructions while few instructions to experienced persons. We have compared the degrees of acquirement of the trainees between the cases with and without the intervention object. The fixation ratio in the former case is 84.6% while that in the latter is 30.8%. These results reveal the proposed method is useful in training.
