  Abstract  
 

Libraries are recognized to play an important role in education, scientific research and social-economic development of a country. Today the LIS education and research is available at more than 86 universities and 32 colleges and institutions affiliated to universities offering regular courses while 27 universities are conducting these courses through distance education (the certificate and diploma courses are not taken into account) 8 and it is estimated more than 500 teachers are engaged in these departments/colleges/institutions in imparting education. On the other side the present era characterized by the phenomenal growth of ICT and its surrogate technology such as Internet, web technologies, portals, content management system, e-libraries, e-commerce, e-journals, semantic web, etc.  and its  application in all walk of life. The ICT and its surrogates technologies have changed the way people communicate, interact, acquire, share knowledge, search, investigate and participate in the creation and re-use of the information. It is also an undisputed fact that ICT has brought new dimensions and opportunities in the process of information access, consolidation and communication, storing and retrieving, downloading and distributing the value added information throughout the world. Using the web technologies one can easily design and develop online information tools in order to provide the reliable, up-to-date, authentic and comprehensive information on various aspects of any subject. Present paper is a prototype designing of National Content Management System for Library and Information Science Teachers and Teaching Institutions in India. It highlights the need , purpose , scope , objectives ,research methodology and outline   to be prepered to carry out this prototype designing.
