  Abstract

Adaptive web systems mold themselves by observing the environment, user’s requirements, needs and goals. These systems try to tailor or highlight those functionalities or information which is most relevant to their users’ current context or recent activity. This article explores overall framework of adaptive web and covers different phases which are used in development of most adaptive systems. Different types of adaption technologies are also explored in this text. Furthermore this study also classifies the adaptive websites according to their functionality. This research also tries to relate web adaption with the concept of usability. An attempt to analyze the usability of the adaptive websites by comparing them with their non-adaptive versions is also main part of this research. In the end, this research concludes general usability criteria may not fully accomplished in process to achieve web adaption.
